Delegates

As a delegate, why is it critical to understand and represent the unenrolled voters in Maine and how can you show your support in this US Senate Nomination process?

Maine is a fiercely independent state. 29% of registered voters unenrolled from any political party. Beating Susan Collins in November depends almost entirely on whether these voters turn out, and whether they're genuinely excited about our nominee.

2026 was the first year these voters could let their voices be heard in Maine’s Senate Primary race. And they showed up: 75% of unenrolled voters who participated cast their ballot in the Democratic primary on June 9. This is a strong early signal of where energy and enthusiasm already exist heading into November.

These voters are our neighbors and friends, and their turnout in June is real data about what it will take to win in the fall. As a delegate, you have the opportunity to build on that momentum: when you cast your vote for our next Senate nominee, consider not just who can unify Democrats, but who can carry forward the energy that brought unenrolled voters to the table in the first place. The clearest way to do that is to support the candidate who most closely embodies the values and platform that drove this turnout.

As a delegate how can you better understand how well each of the candidates embodies this movement?

The clearest way to judge how well a candidate embodies this movement is to hear them address the platform directly, in their own words. That's what the Candidate Pledge and Candidate Forums are for. The Pledge shows public commitment, and the Forums let you hear candidates go deeper on healthcare, housing, workers' rights, ending forever wars, human rights, and climate accountability. Watch for candidates who speak to these issues with specificity, not just alignment in general terms. If you would like an invite to attend the Candidate Forums please sign the letter in solidarity or speak with your county chairs.

How to show support for this platform / movement?

  • Sign the open letter if you haven't already: it's open to any Mainer standing in solidarity with this platform.

  • If you are attending your county's special nomination meeting this weekend, print out some delegate tags, so you can recognize others in our movement.

  • Watch the Candidate Forums. And when you cast your vote at the convention, use it to support the candidate best positioned to inherit this movement's full strength, not just its ballot line.
